Why is material analysis essential?
Chemical analysis makes it possible to monitor the condition of materials throughout the entire production process, ensuring product quality, identifying necessary adjustments, and minimizing human error caused by the improper use of materials. Knowing the chemical composition also enables traders to buy and sell materials at the correct market value.
Why choose Sirio Analitix?
For over 20 years, Sirio Analitix has been a benchmark in Italy for the supply of chemical analysis instruments for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, laboratory testing, environmental analysis, plastics, precious metals, and more, across all industrial sectors.
With a wide range of products and different analytical techniques covering various stages of production, Sirio Analitix can provide the most suitable analyzer to meet your specific needs.
What is an XRF analyzer?
An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) analyzer is a device that performs non-destructive chemical analysis by exposing a sample to X-rays. Each element produces a characteristic response to this excitation, which is detected by the instrument’s internal detector and used to quantify its concentration.
Why use the XRF technique?
XRF technology allows materials to be analyzed safely and quickly with minimal sample preparation. Since it is a non-destructive method, it is essential in all cases where finished products must be verified. It is a highly versatile technique, suitable for analyzing a wide range of materials including metals, catalysts, plastics, soils, minerals, paints, coatings, and powders.
What is an OES analyzer?
An OES (Optical Emission Spectrometry) analyzer determines the chemical composition of a material by measuring the photons emitted when the sample is subjected to a high-voltage electrical discharge through an electrode.
The emitted light is broken down by a diffraction grating inside the optics according to its characteristic wavelengths. The resulting signals are captured by photomultipliers or CCD detectors, converted into electrical current, and processed to quantify the elemental concentrations.
Why use the OES technique?
The OES technique, thanks to the use of argon gas, allows for the analysis not only of the main elements in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys but also of elements that are difficult to detect with other methods, such as carbon, boron, and nitrogen. However, proper sample preparation is essential to ensure accurate results.
What is a LIBS analyzer?
A LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) analyzer is a spectrometer that performs chemical analysis based on a principle similar to OES, but using a laser source instead of an electrical discharge. This makes the instrument more compact and increases analysis speed. LIBS analyzers are available both as portable and benchtop devices.
Why use the LIBS technique?
The LIBS technique enables the analysis of all major elements in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, including carbon. These instruments represent a “middle ground” between the two previously mentioned technologies: they are portable like XRF devices, yet capable of detecting carbon like OES analyzers—an essential factor for certain applications. However, proper sample preparation is again required to achieve optimal results.
